Alethia -- "A Monster For My Birthday" The scene is Tokyo Japan at sunrise. Alethia, the white Japanese Spitz is stretching on the living room rug, yawning and slowly opening her eyes to face the day. Her master, the Japanese Prime Minister, has been away on a foreign trip for a week now, and Alethia is feeling somewhat bored. ALETHIA (to herself): A solid week of boredom here. I sure wish the Master would call me to Road Rover Headquarters. Anything would be better than sitting around this old house another day! It is at that moment when a light appears above her, and she hears the ominious voice of the Master. MASTER (booming voice): Alethia! Report to Mission Control! ALETHIA (smiles, thinking to herself): Now THAT'S what I call SERVICE!!! Alethia runs out into the backyard to the secret luge tunnel entrance. Within minutes, she has rode the luge car to the transdogmafier room, and has emerged from the chamber as a Cano-Sapien. ALETHIA (happy): At last! Something to do! Before Alethia enters the briefing room, DJ, Azelin, Hunter, Colleen, Exile, Blitz and Shag are having a very interesting conversation. HUNTER (to the others): A mission today! BUMMER! EXILE (nods): Da! How can we prepare for Alethia's birthday party if we have to fight the bad guyskis! COLLEEN (sadly): I have all the decorations hid in me closet, and Shag was in charge of the food! DJ (looks at Shag): Yeah Shag, where's the birthday cake? SHAG (shakes head): Ruh Row Rime! AZELIN (upset): What do you mean you haven't had time! SHAG (whimpers): Ruh Ruh Roo Rut Roff HUNTER (shocked): I don't believe it! COLLEEN (confused): What'd he say? HUNTER (surprised): He says he likes the new Sour Cream and Onion dog buscuits the Master bought! COLLEEN (sighs): What about the party food? HUNTER (coldly): Oh, that, he says our caterer has cut off our credit! EXILE (shocked): WHAT? HUNTER (glazes over at Blitz): It seems that one of us charged a bunch of T-Bone Steaks and never paid for them. Now everyone is staring at Blitz. BLITZ (confused): Huh? You mean that I had to pay for them? I thought free meals were part of my contract! COLLEEN (growls): Blister, I oughtta knock you into the middle of next week! HUNTER (sadly): So, we have no time to set the party up and no party food. DJ (sadly): That's about the size of it (turns to Blitz): Thanks a lot, Blitz! COLLEEN (sadly): Bllmey! What are we gonna do now? The room gets deafly quiet as Alethia enters. Following closely behind her are Dawn, Huntress, Cobber, Marauder, Dylan and Dervish. All take seats as the Master begins to brief them all on their next mission. MASTER (points at map): Road Rovers, there is danger close by. Moments ago, the Road Rover satelite picked up this blurry images from a remote forest in West Virginia. The satelite photo appears on the screen, it looks like a huge green glob hidden beneath a grove of trees. DJ (points): What is that...thing? MASTER (sternly): None of us knows for certain, DJ, but we believe it to be some sort of monster! BLITZ (scared): Monster? (stands up): I just remembered, I have to go iron my boxer shorts... SHAG (shaking): REE ROO!! MASTER (shouts): BLITZ! SHAG! HEEL!! (turns to the others): Rovers, your mission is to investigate this creature and if neccessary, capture it before it harms anyone! Good luck, my Rovers! AZELIN (grin): Looks like we're monster hunters now! HUNTER (shouts): We're dogs with a mission, we're ROAD ROVERS!! All of the Rovers howl in unison. Within minutes, all of the Rovers are in a Jet Rovers flying towards West Virginia. Hunter is piloting the plane and Colleen is sitting in the co-pilot's chair. The others are seated in the back, Alethia is seated near a window and is looking outside. ALETHIA (to herself): Just what I wanted, a monster for my birthday! Oh well, this beats sitting around the house... COLLEEN (looking at map): According to the coordinates the Master gave us, the green creature is in the Monogahela National Forest, near a town called Parsons. HUNTER (looks over at Colleen): Do they have an airport there? COLLEEN (looks at map): Afraid not, Huntie-Wuntie.. HUNTER (smiles): Looks like we'll have to make our own runway then! This pronouncement from Hunter frightens Shag, who hides under his seat. Blitz is so afraid, he reaches for a parachute. HUNTRESS (grabs the parachute): No need for that, Blitz, my brother knows what he's doing! EXILE (looks out window): I sure hope so-ski! As the plane desends, Blitz and Shag are screaming their heads off. Hunter brings it to a three point landing near an abandoned railroad station. When the Jet Rover doors open, Blitz jumps out and begins kissing the ground. BLITZ (kissing the ground): Oh, dunka-shan! Dunka-shan! I survived! EXILE (looking down on Blitz): He's a REALLY weird boy! DJ (laughs): I couldn't agree with you more! DAWN (looks at Hunter): Hey! That was a fun ride, Hunter! Can we do it again? HUNTER (smiles): Well, maybe. I wonder if they have any Chunky Lunky restraunts around here? COLLEEN (puts hand on Hunter's shoulder): No time for that, Hunter, we have a mission to complete! HUNTER (nods): You're right, Colleen! (motions forward): Road Rovers, follow me! ALETHIA (looking all around): Beautiful countryside! AZELIN (nods): I agree, Alethia! DJ (looks behind them): Blitz is still kissing the ground! EXILE (shakes head): Weird boy! Dylan, Dervish and Marauder grab Blitz and leads him towards the others. After walking for a half mile, the Rovers have reached the satelite coordinates only to find nothing. HUNTER (turns to Colleen): Colleen, are you sure this is the right place? COLLEEN (nods): Affirmative, Hunter! The map says so! ALETHIA (points towards the ground): Look at this! Alethia has discovered a set of huge footprints on the ground. HUNTRESS (shocked): WOW! Looks like we're dealing with a really big monster! COBBER (looks closer): If I didn't know any better, I'd swear these were dinosaur tracks! These look like some of the one's I've seen in museums. BLITZ (scared): Di----Di----Di----DINOSAUR? SHAG (frightened): Runt Ro! DYLAN (shakes head): A dinosaur? No, it can't be! HUNTER (shakes head): It doesn't make sense. What would a dinosaur be doing way out here? A VOICE FROM THE FOREST (angry): THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION, ROVER!! NOW!!!! As the Rovers turn towards the voice, they see six Cano-Mutants armed with bazooka-looking guns on their shoulders. Each gun fires a white blob which when they strikes the Rovers, wraps all of them up like a straight jacket. One by one, the Rovers fall to the ground, struggling and helpless as Parvo and Groomer emerge from the shadows. PARVO (laughing): This is such a happy day for me! I finally have captured the Road Rovers! GROOMER (smiles): I knew you would, my General! HUNTER (angry): Parvo! I should've known it was you all along! PARVO (laughing): Yes, Hunter! I knew that my holographic dinosaur image would bring you all here! COLLEEN (sadly): Blimey, we're all victims of special effects! GROOMER (smiles): Correct you are, girly! And now, all of you will be put through the Cano-Mutator! DJ (struggles): Not on your life, Groomer! AZELIN (struggles): YEAH! NO WAY! PARVO (shakes head): Now now, that's no way for future Cano-Mutants to act! ALETHIA (angry): You had us fooled alright! The false satelite image, the footprints, and ... PARVO (confused): Footprints? GROOMER (shakes head): We never made any fake dinosaur footprints, did we? PARVO (shakes head): No! They were not neccessary! ALETHIA (struggles): Then look behind me! You'll see! Parvo and Groomer gasp when they see the footprints. PARVO (scared): If we didn't make these, then who did? Soon, the ground begins to shake, the sound of trees cracking is heard in the distance, along with a strange sounds roar. GROOMER (scared): What.....what.....what's that? PARVO (frightened, points up): Look! Standing before all of them is a huge, green brontosaurus. His long neck stretches down towards Parvo and Groomer. He lets out another loud roar which makes all of Cano-Mutants drop their weapons and run, followed closely by Parvo and Groomer. The strange dinosaur then moves his long neck over to where Hunter and the other Rovers are. MONSTER (smiles): Are y'all alright? HUNTER (scared): You....you......you can.....talk? MONSTER (big grin): Of course I can! I've been atalkin' up a storm since the Ice Age! (sees all of them bound): Reckon I best git y'all some help! (turns his head around and yells): HEY! WE NEED SOME HELP OVER HERE! The first of his 'friends' to arrive are two very familiar looking Road Rovers. HUNTER (confused): Otto? Sam? You're friends of this creature? OTTO (nods): Yes! Now please remain motionless so I may free you! Otto removes his left glove as a knife blades emerges from it. With one careful stroke, Hunter is freed from the 'straight jacket' trap he was in. SAMANTHA (timidly): Mr Hunter, sir, Otto and I have known the Computer Dinosaur for years! ALETHIA (shocked): Did you say Computer Dinosaur? DJ (shocked): Computer Dinosaur? DYLAN (surprised): It can't be! Within minutes Otto and Samantha have freed all of the Road Rovers, who surround the huge brontosaurus. ALETHIA (looking up at him): Computer Dinosaur? I've chatted online with someone calling themself the Computer Dinosaur before, but that couldn't be you, could it? COMPUTER DINOSAUR (nods): That was me, Alethia! And I've chatted with DJ, Azelin, Dylan, Dawn, Dervish ..... DYLAN (looking up at him): I never knew you were a REAL dinosaur! AZELIN (looking up at him): I never would've guessed it! COMPUTER DINOSAUR (smiles): Well, I'm real, y'all! (turns to Alethia): I understand it's you birthday today, right? ALETHIA (shocked): Yes, it is! But how did you know? COMPUTER DINOSAUR (smiles): They don't call me the COMPUTER Dinosaur for nothing! I was hoping you'd come here today, follow me, I have something to show all of you! All of the Road Rovers follow the huge dinosaur to the entrance of a large cave a short distance away. Inside of the cave, they are all surprised to see electrical lighting, along with a huge stone table in the distance, which holds a large number of wrapped gifts and a large birthday cake. The interior of the cave is decorated with streamers and party balloons all around. COMPUTER DINOSAUR (huge grin): HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALETHIA!!! ALETHIA (stunned): WOW!!!! All this for me? How did you do it? COMPUTER DINOSAUR (looks down at Otto and Sam): I had some help... OTTO (nods): CD is correct. My wife and I approprated all of the materials neccessary to decorate the cave as well as acquiring all of the gifts...... SAMANTHA (smiles): Actually, I did the cake myself! DERVISH (smiles): Amazing! OTTO (sternly): The plan was for Samantha and I to invite all of you here for the party, however, this became unneccassary with your arrival in this area. ALETHIA (beaming): I don't know what to say! COMPUTER DINOSAUR (smiles): You don't have to say anything, my friend, just enjoy the party with all of your friends! ALETHIA (happy): Thank you, Computer Dinosaur! The huge brontosaurus reaches down and gives Alethia a gentle hug. Samantha gets CD's huge entertainment system to play party music as Otto uses his teleportation circuitry to 'bring' more guests to the party, even the Master himself! MASTER (looks all around): Amazing! (looks up at the Dinosaur): Is this the monster our satelite was tracking? SAMANTHA (timidly): Well, not exactly, Mr Master, sir. HUNTER (smiles): Looks like our mission is complete! All of the Rovers howl in unison, the Dinosaur roars, causing the ground to shake. COMPUTER DINOSAUR (embarrassed): Oops, sorry, y'all! Everyone laughs. Then the Master leads them all in singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Alethia. ALETHIA (to herself): Maybe it's not so bad to have a monster for my birthday afterall! --------------------------------------------------------------------
